Theresa Grisez (“Tracy”) joined Cooper Cargill Chant as an associate attorney in 2018, and practices in the areas of estate planning, family law and general civil litigation. Tracy hails from the Washington, D.C. area, where she had a successful prior career specializing in Human Resources and Revenue Cycle Management.  While working for a busy orthopaedic practice in Annapolis, Maryland, Tracy completed her bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence.  After serving as an executive with the practice for seven years, she began a Legal and Ethical Studies masters program intending to pursue a career in mediation.

During her Master’s program, Tracy came to understand the extent of the deficiency as it relates to affordable legal services inspiring her to enter law school immediately following graduation. During her law school years at the University of Baltimore, Tracy clerked for both an Administrative Law Judge on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as well as a Maryland Circuit Court Judge, interned with Kids in Need of Defense and served as a student attorney with the Pretrial Justice Clinic for three semesters.  Tracy graduated with high honors from the University of Baltimore School of Law in May 2018.  She was admitted to the Maine State Bar in October 2018.


Assisted with a full range of Estate Planning matters for a busy firm in Annapolis, MD.

Clerked for Administrative Law Judge for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Clerked for a Maryland Circuit Court Judge assisting with criminal and civil proceedings, including Drug Court.

Prepared Special Immigration Juvenile Status petitions and assisted with related family law matters for Kids in Need of Defense (KIND).

Represented indigent criminal defendants in challenging improper bail determinations. Drafted and filed petitions for writ of habeas corpus and represented clients in subsequent bail hearing when granted.

Founding Member of University of Baltimore’s Working Group on Legal Access Alternatives which developed the District Court Navigator Pilot Program in Baltimore City, MD.

While she is originally from Maryland, Tracy’s husband was born and raised in Scarborough, Maine, and they recently relocated to the area to be closer to his parents and family.  Tracy lives on a farm in West Baldwin, Maine where she and her husband love to hike and snow shoe with their four dogs — two yellow labs and two rescue terriers.  Tracy is also a novice birder, and enjoys traveling and making jewelry for family and friends in her spare time.
